Frequently Asked Questions

When are rehearsals?

Rehearsals are on Tuesdays from 7-9pm beginning September 25th at the Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center. A more detailed schedule with DSO sectional dates will be made available soon.

When are concerts?

We currently have two concerts scheduled- December 12, 2018 and April 16, 2019 in Orchestra Hall. We are working on scheduling a possible third concert in a different venue.

Do I need to audition?

No. Anyone with about two years of playing experience is welcome to join the orchestra or the band (regardless of how long it's been since you last played). Woodwind and brass musicians interested in playing with the orchestra may need to audition for a seat early in the season. Orchestral wind players will be asked to rehearse and perform with the band as well.

How much does membership cost?

Membership dues for the full season (Sept-April) is $200. Payment plans and financial aid are available. Download the Financial Aid Request form here.

When will music be available?

Music will be available electronically for download at least one week prior to the start of the first rehearsal and hard copies will be available at the first rehearsal.

I may need to miss some rehearsals, will that be a problem?

While it is important for DCE musicians to attend as many rehearsals as possible to produce a good concert, we understand that we live busy lives and attendance at every rehearsal may not be possible. There is no attendance requirement to participate, however excessive absences will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

Do you provide instruments?

Unfortunately, not yet. But we may be able to point you in the right direction.
